Salvation Army leaders from the various Territories and Commands around the Army world have gathered in London ahead of the High Council which commences today for the purpose of electing the next General, the 20th international leader of The Salvation Army. We believe in faith that God already knows who this person will be and is preparing their heart, mind and soul for the sacred and significant task ahead of them. The choice has already been made and yet God in His abundant grace invites us as His people to join with Him in the unfolding of His plan and purpose for the salvation of the world in this present generation – it’s a humbling thought! May those who have been charged with the responsibility of discerning the heart of God throughout this process hear His voice amongst the voices, be united in Spirit with one another and know His peace in all circumstances. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11 NIV)
